The transaction processed through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on Rupay cards doubled in the first seven months of financial year 2025 (FY25) compared to the same period of FY24, data from the Ministry of Finance shows.

RuPay India's indigenous payment network system, was launched in 2012 by the goverenmentback National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI),the rupay credit card itself was introduced in June 2017, September 2022 the programexpanded the allow users to link Rupay credit cards to UPI apps for merchant payments.
