The Bharatiya Janata Party has reportedly shortlisted 10–12 potential candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Assam, with the final decision to be taken by the party’s central leadership in New Delhi. According to party sources, the state unit forwarded the panel after internal consultations, and the leadership is weighing factors such as regional representation, caste balance, and political experience before finalising the nominees. With its numerical strength in the Assam Legislative Assembly, the BJP is well placed to win both Rajya Sabha seats.
