Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone arrives as a member of the jury at the Cannes Cinema Festival which begins in France on May 17 Deepika Padukone inaugurated the India Pavilion at the Cannes Cinema Festival and expressed hope that one day Cannes will be held in India.
Union Minister for Information and Technology, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India Anurag Thakur inaugurated the India Pavilion at the 75th Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
The special event was attended by several famous Indians including Deepika Padukone, R Madhavan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tamannaah Bhatia. Deepika Padukone, who was part of the jury at the prestigious Cannes 2022 event, spoke about Indian cinema at the event and said she believes there will be a day when Cannes will be held in India.This year Cannes's 'Marche' du Cinema is celebrating India as cannes's official 'County Of Honour'.
For this many established stars including AR Rahman, Heli Shah, Pooja Hegde, Tamannaah Bhatia, R Madhavan, Hina Khan will be seen walking the red carpet. At the inauguration of India Pavilion, Deepika Padukone said, India is at the peak of greatness, it is just the beginning. There will come a day where I really believe india should not be in Cannes, but, Cannes will be in India.
Cannes 2022 has a special significance in R Madhavan's film career. The actor has made his directorial debut. His upcoming film 'Rockety: The Nambi Effect' is heading for a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, and the actor has represented India on the prestigious stage.
