Indian Army, Assam Rifles Conduct Joint Drill in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang District

The Indian Army and Assam Rifles conducted a joint helicopter‑borne troop insertion exercise on Friday in the Vijaynagar area of Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at testing rapid deployment capabilities and operational preparedness in challenging terrain.
Defence officials said the drill involved swift induction of acclimatised troops by helicopter into a simulated operational zone, enabling both forces to evaluate coordination, speed, and precision under near-real battlefield conditions.
“This exercise showcased the forces’ ability to deploy personnel efficiently in difficult and forested areas,” said Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat, highlighting the high levels of professionalism and combat readiness demonstrated by the participating units.
The exercise also focused on strengthening inter‑force coordination and interoperability between the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, which is critical in strategically sensitive areas along the India‑Myanmar border.
Vijaynagar, located at India’s easternmost tip, holds significant strategic importance due to its proximity to international borders and the logistical challenges posed by its rugged terrain. Officials said such exercises form part of ongoing efforts to maintain high levels of operational readiness in the Northeast.
The drill reflects India’s commitment to enhancing military preparedness in difficult terrains while ensuring seamless coordination between different branches of the armed forces.
