An Indian-origin student has been arrested in the United States on charges of arson and making a terroristic threat, according to law enforcement officials and court records.
The accused, identified as Manojh Sai Lella, a 22-year-old student enrolled at the University of Texas at Dallas, was taken into custody by police in Frisco, Texas, following a complaint from family members. Authorities said officers responded after relatives reported threatening behaviour and raised concerns about his conduct.
According to police, Lella is accused of attempting to set fire to a residence, leading to an arson charge under Texas law. He has also been booked for allegedly making a terroristic threat against a family or household member. Officials clarified that there is no indication at this stage that the incident was linked to any organised extremist activity, and the case is being treated as a criminal matter.
Court records show that the arson charge has been registered as a serious felony, while the terroristic threat charge has been listed as a separate offence. Bond has been set in the case, and Lella remains in custody as legal proceedings move forward.
Local police said the investigation is ongoing and further details will emerge as the case proceeds through the judicial process. The University of Texas at Dallas has not issued an official statement on the arrest so far.
The incident has drawn attention within the Indian-American community, with officials reiterating that the accused is entitled to due process under U.S. law and that conclusions should not be drawn until the court reaches a verdict.
