The draft Special Revision (SR) electoral roll for Kamrup Metropolitan district has been published ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, showing a 1.63 per cent increase in registered voters compared to the previous roll, officials said on Saturday.
District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, IAS, announced the release of the draft roll and said that the window for filing claims and objections is open from December 27, 2025, to January 22, 2026. Special voter assistance camps will be organised on January 3, 4, 10 and 11 to help residents submit corrections, deletions or additions. All claims will be reviewed and disposed of by February 2, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on February 10, 2026.
The draft roll lists a total of 10,75,576 voters, comprising 5,21,388 male, 5,54,151 female and 37 third-gender electors. To facilitate voting, 105 new polling stations have been added, bringing the district’s total to 1,218 across urban and rural areas.
A house-to-house verification drive by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) covered over 2.93 lakh households, identifying 24,163 deceased voters and 21,154 voters who have shifted their addresses. These names will be removed in the final roll. During the exercise, officials also found 14,700 eligible citizens aged 18 and above who were not yet registered. Residents can submit Form 6 for new registrations, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or address changes through the official portal, Voter Helpline App, or via their respective BLOs.
The draft publication follows the Election Commission of India’s directive for a Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam, with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. Authorities have urged all eligible voters in Kamrup Metropolitan to verify their details and make corrections before the deadline to ensure accuracy in the final roll.
