Kejriwal has been under judicial custody since his arrest on March 21, ED filed a new affidavit yesterday opposing the grant of interim bail of Kejriwal for upcoming election campaigning.

Earlier on Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) lodged a protest in the Supreme Court through an affidavit on the issue of interim bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam and said that neither the right to campaign in the elections nor It is not a fundamental right nor a constitutional right.

At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal's legal team has raised objection to the affidavit filed by ED. If Arvind Kejriwal comes out of jail just before the Lok Sabha elections, it will be a news of great relief for the Aam Aadmi Party. It is known that there are Lok Sabha elections in Delhi on 25th May, in which only 15 days are left.

In a new affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the ED said that there are many examples where politicians contested elections while in judicial custody and some even won, but were never granted interim bail for election campaigning.

Today the bench of Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutta will hear the case.
