Assam assembly passed a legislation on Monday on February 26 Monday which will outlaw non-scientific healing practice in the state.The Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024 was passed on the final day on the ongoing budget. The act is to generate awarness in the society, the intention of this act is to non-scientific therapautic techniques carry a hidden motives to exploit innocent people, the fiber of public health often takes a back seat in the society.
Legislation will prohibits from taking part of any short of advertisement or any kind of medicine remedy, directly or indirectly relating to anyu false claim to cure disease through healimng pratices, offences committede under the provisions of the Bill would be cognizable and non-bailable.
In this case, the offence acn face imprisionment of 1 year or maybe extendend up to 3 years with fine Rs 5000 or with the both.
If the suspect he/she will be liable to face rigorous imprisionment which may extended up to 5 years, or with a fine Rs 1 Lakh or both.
