Forest Worker Injured in Rhino Attack at Kaziranga National Park

A forest worker was injured after being attacked by a rhinoceros inside Kaziranga National Park on Saturday, officials said.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Narmora forest camp area under the Kohora range of the national park. The injured worker has been identified as Tularam Gogoi, who was on routine duty along with other forest staff when the rhino suddenly charged at him.
Following the attack, Gogoi sustained serious injuries. Fellow forest personnel immediately rushed to his aid and rescued him from the spot. He was initially taken to Kohora Model Hospital for primary treatment and was later referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for further medical care.
Forest officials said frontline staff often face significant risks while carrying out patrolling and conservation duties in the park.
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is globally renowned for hosting the world’s largest population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. However, encounters between wildlife and forest personnel occasionally lead to such incidents.
Authorities are monitoring the condition of the injured worker, while forest officials continue regular patrol operations in the area.
