After the formation of the government, there was speculation about when the Union Government would present the budget. The likely date of presentation of the budget this year has already been announced. The budget for the 2024-25 fiscal could be released in the last week of July, PTI reported. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may hold a special meeting on the 20th of this month before presenting the budget. The Finance Minister will hold a special meeting with Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra on June 18 ahead of the meeting, sources said. It will then hold a meeting with the industry on June 20 and could present the budget in the last week of July. The budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year is likely to show the economic situation of the NDA government.
The BJP had an absolute majority for so long, which allowed Arun Jaitley and Nirmala Sitharaman to take independent decisions on the budget. This is the first time he has to present a budget as a representative of a coalition government, so the demands of stakeholders must also be taken into account. Keeping inflation under control is also believed to be a challenge for him. The target set by the Center for a better India by 2047 will also be taken into account.
In the next budget, the government may give maximum emphasis to agriculture, reducing unemployment and increasing revenue. Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present seven consecutive budgets this year. Earlier, Moraji Desai had presented six consecutive budgets. The general public has high expectations from the budget in the 2024-25 fiscal year and it remains to be seen how much will be met.
