The Medical Education and Research Department (MERD) of the Assam government on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CSRBOX to strengthen and expand healthcare initiatives across the state.
The MoU aims to facilitate collaboration between the state government and corporate entities by effectively channelising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds into priority healthcare sectors. The partnership will focus on improving health infrastructure, enhancing access to medical services and supporting community-based health programmes, particularly in underserved and rural areas.
Under the agreement, CSRBOX will act as a strategic partner to identify, design and implement need-based healthcare interventions aligned with the state’s health priorities. Key focus areas include infrastructure development in medical institutions, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, nutrition programmes, preventive healthcare, and early screening for diseases, including cancer.
Officials from MERD said the collaboration would help optimise the utilisation of CSR resources while ensuring transparency, accountability and measurable outcomes. The department highlighted that public-private partnerships are crucial in addressing healthcare gaps and improving service delivery across Assam.
Representatives from CSRBOX expressed their commitment to supporting Assam’s healthcare ecosystem by aligning corporate contributions with government programmes and long-term public health goals.
The MoU is expected to play a significant role in strengthening Assam’s healthcare system and improving health outcomes, complementing the state government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade medical education, infrastructure and patient care services.
