In a bid to reduce the growing number of accidents in Assam, GNRC Hospitals have launched an accident awareness initiative, urging people to adopt safe practices and highlighting the importance of prevention and timely emergency response.
Addressing the media, doctors and emergency care specialists from GNRC Hospital said road accidents continue to be a major cause of serious injuries and fatalities in the state. They stressed that most accidents are preventable if basic safety rules are followed.
As part of the awareness drive, GNRC Hospital shared a set of preventive safety tips for the public. These include wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, strictly following traffic rules and speed limits, and never driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Doctors also advised regular vehicle maintenance to reduce mechanical failures on the road.
Medical experts emphasised the importance of the “golden hour”—the critical time immediately after an accident—stating that prompt medical attention can significantly improve survival rates. They urged bystanders to immediately alert emergency services and provide basic first aid where possible.
GNRC Hospital officials said the awareness programme is part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to public health education and trauma care. The hospital has been actively working to spread awareness about accident prevention through community outreach programmes and public interactions.
The hospital appealed to citizens to act responsibly and make road safety a shared responsibility, stating that awareness and caution can save lives and reduce the burden on emergency healthcare services across Assam.
