According to sources, this year's interim budget could double the amount of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for women farmers. It is estimated that the amount of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana could be increased to Rs 9,000 for men and Rs 12,000 for women.

Currently, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana, funds are remitted directly to the accounts of farmers and Rs. 6,000 is remitted in three installments per annum. Generally farmers who can avail this scheme should have 2 hectares of land. However, the rule has since been implemented for all farmers.

In this year's Budget, Kisan Credit Cards will be issued to women farmers and women farmers will get loans at a 1 per cent discount over others.
