The Guwahati High Court on Friday the state goverenment move to de-notify the Deepor Beel Wildlife Sanctuarywas not warrented at this stage.
Recently, the Assam Cabinet made a move to withdraw the notification issued by the state Forest Department, removing Deepor Beel's protected status. Pramod Kalita and two others filed and interlocutory application to challenge the state cabinet's decision.
A division bench of Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice Suman said, we are of view that any decision to de-notify the Deepor Beel Wildlife Santuary is not warrented at this stage.
The order is subjected any further other passed by the Supreme Court of India.
However, Advocate General Debabrat Saikia told the court that although request two days to respond to the matter and extension for was granted by the court.
On Friday 6 April High Court also directed the Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner to file a response progress of Wildlife Management Rules.
