The Election Commission issued a notice to ban conducting, publishing or publicizing of exit polls from 7:00 am on April 19 to 6:30 pm till June 1 related to the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in four states, Andhra Pradesh, Anuranachal Pradesh, Odhisha and Sikkim.

The notification issued on Thursday by ECI and made it clear that under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, disdplaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the 48-hours period ending with the time fixed for the conclusion of the poll.

This ban applies to all forms of media.
