On Friday 8 March, President Droupadi Murmu nominated author and philanthropist Sudha Murty to Rajya Sabha, PM Narendra Modi, announced on Friday, 'Congratulating Sudha Murty that her contribution to diverse fields has been ímmense and inspitring'.
PM Modi wrote on X known as (twitter) 'I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty to Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji's contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education has immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our 'Nari Shakti', exemplifying the strenght and potential of women in shaping our nation's destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure'.
Murthy is a former chairperon of Infosys Foundation, she is also a member of the public healthcare initatives of the Gates Foundation, in 2006, Murthy was awarded as Padma Shri-the fourt highest civilian award in India.Later 2003, she was awarded the Padma Bhushan-the third highest civilian award.
Murty is married to the co-founder of Infosys Naryan Murty, who have two children- Akshata and Rohan, Akshata Murty married to UK PM Rishi Sunak.
