Billionaire Gautam Adani has now become the second richest person in the world.
Whiskers have been ranked in forbes' list in place of Bernard Arnault. The adani group chairman's assets are now ₹155.5 billion (₹12.37 lakh crore).
Adani's net worth grew by $5.2 billion, up 3.49 per cent, according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list. He is narrowly ahead of Bernard Arnult of France and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Tesla founder Elon Musk continues to top the list of richest people.
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is the second Indian in the top ten list with a net worth of $92.2 billion. Other billionaires on the top ten list include Bill Gates, Larry Allison, Warren Buffett, Larry Page and Sergee Brin.
On August 30, Adani became the third richest person in the world to overtake Louis Viton boss Arnault. This was the first time an Asian was ranked among the top three billionaires. According to Bloomberg, Adani Wilmer Ltd., adani group's kitchen accessories firm, is now scouting to target local and out-state acquisitions to grow its food management business. The company's CEO and managing director Ansu Malik told Bloomberg that the company is looking to acquire brands of key food and distribution companies to increase consumer product offerings and reach.
Adani Wilmar has earmarked Rs 500 crore from the initial public offer for the purchase. He also said that the source of the additional funds will be internal accrual and the capital expenditure planned for next year from April will be available. Shares of the food company have more than tripled since it debuted at $486 million in February.
The revelation comes after Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries announced in August that it would be aggressive in the FMCG business through its subsidiary Reliance Retail.
