Assam Governor Attends First Convocation of Krishnaguru University

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Monday attended the first convocation ceremony of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Viswavidyalay at Nasatra in Barpeta district, marking a major milestone in the journey of the newly established university.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor congratulated the graduating students and described the convocation as a proud moment not only for the institution but also for the state. He said education should aim at holistic development, combining academic excellence with ethical values, discipline and social responsibility. Praising the vision of the university, he highlighted the importance of integrating spiritual and value-based education with modern learning to shape responsible citizens.
The ceremony was also attended by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, who commended the university for promoting education rooted in Indian traditions while meeting contemporary academic standards. He said such institutions play a vital role in preserving cultural heritage while preparing youth for global challenges.
Degrees were conferred on students from the inaugural batch during the convocation. Eminent personalities were also honoured for their contributions to society, culture and education.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohan Chandra Kalita, members of the Krishnaguru Foundation Trust, faculty members, students and their families were present at the event.
Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Viswavidyalay, inspired by the teachings of Krishnaguru Prabhu, aims to promote higher education with a focus on moral values, spirituality and social harmony. The first convocation marked a significant step forward in the university’s academic journey.
