Meeting with Political Parties Held in Sivasagar

A meeting with representatives of recognised national and state-level political parties was held on Monday at the District Commissioner’s office in Sivasagar as part of preparations for upcoming electoral activities in Assam.

The meeting, conducted at the Sukafa Conference Hall, was chaired by District Commissioner and District Election Officer Aayush Garg. Officials discussed key issues related to the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls for 2026 and outlined the procedures and timelines to be followed by political parties.

During the interaction, election officials briefed party representatives on the publication of the final list of polling stations in the district and urged them to verify details to ensure accuracy and voter convenience. The importance of coordination between political parties and the election administration was emphasised to facilitate a smooth and transparent electoral process.

The schedule for the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units was also shared. Officials informed that the FLC process is scheduled to be conducted from December 27, 2025, to January 7, 2026, in the presence of political party representatives.

Party representatives were encouraged to actively participate in the process and raise concerns, if any, through appropriate channels. Officials reiterated the Election Commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair and transparent elections.

The meeting comes amid increasing political activity in Sivasagar district as Assam gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections, with election authorities stepping up efforts to ensure preparedness at the grassroots level.
