Railway workers staged a protest against a senior engineer at Chaygaon in Kamrup district, Assam, alleging harassment and irregularities within the department.
The protest was organized by members of the Northeast Frontier Railway Employees Union, who accused Senior Engineer Uday Chandra Bhanu of subjecting workers to continuous harassment and exploitation at the local office of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
According to reports, around 50 railway workers gathered outside the office of the Senior Section Engineer in Chaygaon and raised slogans against the official. The protesters carried placards and demanded immediate action from higher railway authorities.
Union members alleged that several irregularities and corrupt practices were taking place under the supervision of the engineer. They urged the railway administration to conduct a thorough inquiry into the allegations and take necessary action.
The protest created a tense atmosphere in the area for some time. However, no untoward incident was reported.
The workers warned that if their grievances are not addressed and appropriate action is not taken against the accused official, they may intensify their agitation in the coming days.
