Assam CM distributes 289 appointment letters; total government jobs reach 1.58 lakh in five years

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, on Wednesday distributed 289 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across various government departments, taking the total number of government jobs provided in the state to 1,58,669 over the past five years.
The appointment letters were handed over during an official ceremony held in Guwahati as part of the state government’s ongoing recruitment drive aimed at generating employment opportunities for the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Sarma said the government remains committed to transparent and merit-based recruitment, ensuring that eligible candidates get opportunities in public service. He noted that the recruitment process in the state has been conducted in a fair and systematic manner to strengthen public institutions while creating jobs.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that employment generation has been one of the key priorities of the government since it assumed office. He added that the steady recruitment across departments reflects the administration’s efforts to improve governance and provide stable career opportunities for educated youth in the state.
Congratulating the newly appointed candidates, Sarma urged them to work with dedication, sincerity and integrity while serving the people of Assam. He also reaffirmed that the state government will continue its recruitment drives in the coming years to further expand employment opportunities.
The Assam government has been regularly distributing appointment letters in phases as part of its commitment to providing large-scale government employment across departments in the state.
