Orchid Park added to Kaziranga’s attractions in Assam

Assam has added a new Orchid Park to the list of attractions at Kaziranga National Park, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurating the facility at Kohora to strengthen eco-tourism in the state.
Developed over around 20 bighas at an estimated cost of ₹16 crore, the park houses more than 900 species of indigenous and exotic orchids displayed across seven modern glasshouses. The complex also features a children’s park, amphitheatre, restaurant and tourist accommodation, aiming to enhance visitor amenities.
Officials said the Orchid Park is expected to diversify tourist experiences beyond traditional wildlife safaris and encourage longer stays in Kaziranga, thereby boosting the local economy. The Chief Minister noted that the initiative reflects the government’s focus on biodiversity conservation while positioning Kaziranga as a more comprehensive eco-cultural tourism destination.
