Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday criticised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his remarks targeting Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, calling them “wrong politics” and saying dragging family members, including children, into political allegations was unacceptable. Speaking during her Assam visit, she urged the chief minister to focus on governance issues such as employment for youth and welfare of women rather than personal attacks. The criticism comes after Sarma alleged links between Gogoi and his wife and a Pakistan-based individual and said the matter had been referred to the Centre. Priyanka Gandhi dismissed the allegations as inappropriate and maintained that political battles should be fought on development and policy matters as the BJP and Congress intensify their contest ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
