Assam: Rowta Police Seize Over 30 kg of Ganja in Anti-Narcotics Operation

In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Rowta Police in Assam’s Udalguri district seized over 30 kilograms of ganja during a raid conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs, officials said.
According to police, the operation was carried out in Gopsar village under the No. 4 Dhanshree area. During the search of a residence, police recovered approximately 31 kg of ganja, which had been packed in multiple polythene packets and concealed inside the house.
The raid was conducted by a team from Rowta Police Station under the supervision of senior officers. The seized contraband has been taken into custody and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said the suspected owner of the contraband was not present at the time of the raid and is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused, while further investigation is being conducted to ascertain whether the seizure is linked to a larger drug trafficking network.
Officials reiterated that operations against drug peddling will continue across the district as part of the state’s ongoing drive to curb narcotics and protect youth from substance abuse.
