On February 15 Supreme Court filed a judgement challenging the legal validity of the electoral bonds schemes calling it "unconstittional". Its violated Article 19 (1) (a) under the Constitution and its goes under the Right to Information.
The matter was heared by five Judge Constitutional bench of the Chief Justice of India, along with the other justices, the scheme made to the Income Tax Act and the Representation of People Act.
The apex cout also asked State Bank of India (SBI) to stop issuing electoral bonds at once and submit details of donations to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
SC bench added EC must share details on its official website.
Only the political parties registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 which secured not less then 1% of the votes polled in the last election in Lok Sabha or a state legislative assembley are eligiable to recieve electoral bonds.
