Gaurav Gogoi, president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, has declared total assets worth ₹7.57 crore in his latest election affidavit, reflecting a significant increase in his wealth.
The affidavit, filed in connection with the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, shows a substantial rise from the ₹2.63 crore assets he had declared during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to the disclosure, Gogoi’s assets include both movable and immovable properties such as bank deposits, investments, and real estate holdings. A portion of his immovable assets consists of inherited property, including land and residential property in Guwahati and New Delhi.
The increase in declared wealth is attributed to a combination of fresh asset additions and appreciation in the value of existing properties and investments over time.
A Member of Parliament and son of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Gogoi remains a key face of the Congress in the state and is leading the party’s campaign in the ongoing elections.
As per norms set by the Election Commission of India, candidates are required to disclose details of their assets, liabilities, and criminal records while filing nomination papers, ensuring transparency in the electoral process.
The latest declaration comes amid heightened political activity in Assam, with major parties intensifying campaigns ahead of polling.
