India’s youngest I-Pop boy band OutStation performed in Guwahati on the 13th, drawing attention from music enthusiasts and marking an important milestone in the group’s early national journey. The performance was part of the band’s outreach as it introduces itself to audiences across the country following the release of its debut single.
OutStation is mentored by Indian-American songwriter and producer Savan Kotecha, a 17-time Grammy nominee with Oscar and Golden Globe credentials. Kotecha is widely known for his collaborations with international stars including Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding. Under his guidance, the group has been developed to represent a new generation of Indian pop artists with global ambitions.
The band recently gained wider visibility after delivering an opening act performance for global music icon Akon, which helped introduce them to a broader international audience. Their debut single, “Tum Se,” has now been released across all major music streaming platforms, marking the group’s official entry into the Indian pop music space.
OutStation was formed through a rigorous nationwide talent hunt conducted by Visva Records, an imprint founded by Kotecha in collaboration with Republic Records and Universal Music India. The selected artists underwent an intensive month-long training bootcamp, focusing on vocals, choreography, performance and overall artistic development before being launched as a unified group.
The five-member band features young talent from across the country — Bhuvan Shetty (22) from Udupi, Hemang Singh (20) from Prayagraj, Mashaal Shaikh (21) from Goa, Kurien Sebastian (20) from Delhi, and Shayan Pattem (17) from Hyderabad. The name OutStation reflects their roots outside Mumbai and symbolises their collective journey from regional beginnings to the national stage.
Supported by UMI-affiliated talent management firm Represent and production house Jugaad Motion Pictures, OutStation is being positioned as part of a broader effort to shape a distinct Indian pop identity aligned with global standards.
During the Guwahati performance, the band showcased original tracks and interacted with fans, receiving an enthusiastic response. The visit also underlined the growing importance of the Northeast as a hub for live music and youth culture.
With their debut single out and live performances underway, OutStation is expected to continue touring Indian cities while working on new music in the coming months.
