Today is the 96th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, a proud musician and composer of Assam.
On this occasion, Google has created a doodle to honour his contribution to the world of music. Google celebrated Bhupen Hazarika's birthday on Thursday with this special doodle.
Google shared a post on its Twitter account on the birthday of Bhupen Hazarika in which the doodle is attached. In the post, Google wrote, "Did you know Bhupen Hazarika was an Assamese-Indian child prodigy who started singing and composing music for films when he was just 12 years old. "
Google also said, "Happy birthday Bhupen Hazarika! Your songs and films continue to respect the rich culture of Assam even today. Google also said that this artwork, portrayed by Mumbai-based guest artist Rutuja Mali, celebrates Hazarika's work in popularising Assam's films and folk music.

As a child, she lived in the midst of an atmosphere of songs and folklore about life along the mighty Brahmaputra river. His musical talent caught the attention of Jyotiprasad Agarwala and Bishnu Prasad Rabha, who were at the forefront of Assam's rich cultural history. These two men helped record Bhupen Hazarika's first song.
He was born on September 8, 1926 in Assam. Bhupen Hazarika started his musical career at the age of 10. At the age of 12, he wrote and recorded songs for two films. Those two songs were 'Kaste Kalsi Le' and 'Vishwa Vijay Najawan'. He passed away on November 5, 2011.
Bhupen Hazarika obtained his master's degree in political science from Banaras Hindu University in 1946. He then received his PhD in mass communication from Columbia University in 1952.
After completing his studies in the US, Dr. Hazarika returned to India and continued to work on songs and films that popularised the culture of Assam at the national and international level. She has lent her tunes to many song albums including Assamese, Bengali and Hindi films.
Dr Bhupen Hazarika has received several prestigious awards including sangeet natak akademi award, dadasaheb phalke award, padma shri and padma bhushan for his outstanding contribution to music and culture in a career spanning six decades. In 2019, he was honoured with The Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.
