100 youths, including ex-DU student leader, join Asom Gana Parishad

In a bid to strengthen its grassroots base, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Tuesday inducted over 100 educated youths, including a former student leader of Dibrugarh University, at the party’s Ambari headquarters in Guwahati.
The new entrants were formally welcomed in the presence of AGP president Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta. Among those who joined the regional party was former Dibrugarh University Students’ Union general secretary Arindam Buragohain, along with several former office-bearers and youths from different Assembly constituencies across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Bora said the party remains firmly committed to safeguarding Assam’s identity, land and rights, and emphasised that the active participation of the younger generation is crucial for achieving these objectives. He described the voluntary induction of youths as a reflection of growing confidence in the party’s ideology.
Mahanta, while welcoming the new members, said the increasing interest of educated youths would further energise the organisation. He added that AGP’s continued focus on protecting regional interests and public rights is drawing support from young people and called for united efforts to build a strong and self-reliant Assam.
The joining programme comes at a time of heightened political mobilisation in Assam, with parties intensifying outreach to youth and student leaders ahead of the next electoral cycle.
