Financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) was provided to 94 patients undergoing treatment in the Dibrugarh Legislative Assembly constituency, officials said on Sunday.
The cheques were distributed by Assam Power Minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan at his office, in the presence of local leaders and beneficiaries. The aid is intended to help patients and their families meet the expenses of critical medical treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, Phukan thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for allocating ₹1 crore from the CMRF for each Assembly constituency, noting that the fund has already benefited over 500 patients in Dibrugarh alone.
The CMRF is aimed at providing immediate financial support to residents facing serious health emergencies, including prolonged or costly medical treatments. Officials said the beneficiaries included patients suffering from a range of illnesses, for whom financial aid would significantly ease treatment-related burdens.
The distribution of the fund reflects the Assam government’s continued focus on supporting citizens in need of urgent medical care, particularly in constituencies across the state.
