Assam Women’s Cricket Team Announced for Namibia Series
The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Friday announced the Assam women’s cricket team for the upcoming series against the visiting Namibia senior women’s side, aimed at providing international exposure to the state’s players.
The squad will be led by wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry, with Jintimani Kalita named as vice-captain. The team features a mix of experienced players and promising youngsters who have performed consistently in domestic competitions.
The Assam women will play a multi-match limited-overs series against Namibia, with fixtures scheduled to be held at venues in Mangaldai and North Guwahati. The series will include both one-day and T20 matches and is part of a reciprocal international engagement between the ACA and Cricket Namibia.
ACA officials said the series is expected to play a key role in strengthening women’s cricket in the state by giving players the opportunity to compete against international opponents. “Such exposure helps our players gain confidence and match experience beyond the domestic circuit,” an ACA official said.
