Assam CM Sarma Hands Over Appointment Letters to 3,420 Candidates in Health Sector

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday handed over appointment letters to 3,420 candidates selected for various posts in the state’s health sector, marking another major step in strengthening public healthcare services and generating employment.
The appointment letters were distributed at a ceremonial function held at Khanapara in Guwahati. The selected candidates have been recruited for technical and non-technical posts under the Directorate of Health Services, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, and the Directorate of AYUSH, officials said.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to transparent and merit-based recruitment, adding that with this round of appointments, the total number of government jobs provided during the current tenure has crossed 1.45 lakh. He noted that the state has already surpassed its initial target of one lakh jobs and is steadily moving towards the goal of providing two lakh government appointments.
Sarma urged the newly appointed health workers to serve with dedication and empathy, especially in government hospitals and health centres that cater to economically weaker sections. He emphasised that improving healthcare delivery remains a top priority of the state government.
The Chief Minister also announced that further rounds of recruitment are in the pipeline, including appointment letters for Grade-III posts under the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) in early January, followed by Grade-IV appointments.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal, senior officials, public representatives and family members of the appointees were present at the event.
The large-scale recruitment drive is expected to help address manpower shortages in the health sector and enhance access to quality healthcare across Assam.
