Three criminal laws will be changed from today
There are three criminal laws in force since the British era
The Criminal Code will be introduced on the basis of the Indian Justice Code
There will no longer be an Indian Penal Code
There will be no Criminal Procedure Code, no Indian Evidence Code
The Indian Justice Code will be introduced
The Indian Civil Protection Code will be introduced
The Indian Evidence Act will also come into force from today
Three new criminals laws- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam will replace the Indian Penda Code of 1860 the Code of Criminal Procedure Act of 1898 and Evidence Act of 1872, respectively
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, said, the new laws would give priority to providing justice unlike the British era laws that gave primacy to penal action
'These laws are made by Indians for Indians, and by an Indian Parliament and marks the end of colonial criminal justice laws, he added.
