In its guidelines, ICMR has advised people to keep an eye on the timing of their tea and coffee consumption, because both contain tannin which reduces the ability to absorb iron, which leads to anemia.

ICMR has said that tea without milk is a better option for your health. Because flavonoids and antioxidants are found in it. It reduces the risk of heart disease and stomach cancer. However, consuming excessive amounts of coffee can also cause high blood pressure and heart-related problems.
What is better tea or coffee?
ICMR has declared tea to be better than coffee. It has been said in the report that the amount of caffeine in 150 ml cup of brewed coffee i.e. ground coffee is 80-120 mg. Whereas in instant coffee this quantity ranges from 50-65 mg. ICMR has said that caffeine up to 300 mg should not be consumed at all.
According to ICMR guidelines, consuming caffeine in limited quantities has many benefits. It helps you stay focused and alert. But consuming caffeine more than the prescribed limit can prove harmful for your body. This can cause problems like sleeplessness and bad cholesterol. Heart patients should avoid its consumption.
