The state's toursim department aims to establish toursit police units, stations, and other essential infrastructure to safegurads of the toursits. The new Assam Toursim (Development and Registration), 2024 recently passed by the state assembly, includes the introduction of the toursit police bill.
In many states in India have already established a toursit police forces, the implementations in its early stages in Assam, the official assured that it would be initated promptly. Toursit Police Scheme was initally rolled across the country in 2022 from the Union Ministry of Toursim from all the sates and Union Territories.
This initative comes from Miniatry of Home Ministry Affairs and Bureau of Police Research and Development to establish a stanndard operating procedures, develop training programs and propose to uniform toursit police officers.
