The Bombay High Court on Thursday 22 February orders Netflix to show 'The Indrani Mukherjea Story' based on the main accused Sheena Bora murder case docu-series to CBI before releasing in the OTT platform.
Reportedly, The High Court, said in its order that its special screening should be first done in front of the High Court, Central Bureau Investigation (CBI)and lawyers. The CBI has filed a plea in the high court seeking the ongoing trial in the Sheena Bora murder case after it failed to obtain a stay from the trail court.
A division bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Manjusha Deshpande suggested it will be suitable for the CBI to preview the series before presenting any arguments regarding their plea for a stay.
Directed by Uraaz Bahl and Shaana Levy, the documentary produced by Terry Leonard the docu-series was schedule to release on the platform on February 23.
As a result, Netflix agreed and defer the boardcast of the series untill the next hearing. In a statement Netflix said that the docu-series will feature with Indrani Mukherjea, her children Vidhie Mukherjea and Mikhail Bora along with the veteran journalist Rajdeep Sardesai and lawyers.
Indrani Mukherjea was arrested in 2015 for allegedly murdering her daughter, Sheena Bora with the assistance of her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, current husband Peter Mukherjea and driver Shyamvar Rai in 2012.
In May 2022, the Supreme Court granted her bail.
