Summer begins. Heat wave also increases in capital Delhi, North and Central India The Indian Meteorological Department said that the national capital Delhi and large parts of north and central India will pass through heavy heatwave for the next five days. A similar warning was issued for East India for the next three days. The temperature in Delhi and other regions has crossed 40 degrees Celsius, with Rajasthan at a maximum of 45 degrees. 

Epin has issued 'yellow' warnings in several districts due to heat wave and 'Orange' alert (one degree higher) has been issued for parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. However, the IMD said the temperature may drop after three to five days. 

The Met department also said that rain/thundershowers are likely to continue with thunderstorm/stormy winds in the northeastern Indian region.  

Tips to stay cool and safe in the scorching summer:

 

◼ Make it a habit to drink plenty of water regularly. You will often drink water even if you don't feel thirsty.

 

◼ Protect yourself from the scorching heat of the sun by wearing a hat, sunglasses and using a sunscreen if you go out. 

◼ Avoid hot and heavy meals 

◼ Cover the windows with drap or shade. 

◼ Wear light coloured and loose clothes that help protect against heat. Wear clothes to cover your body so that the skin does not burn.
