Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA) will organise the ‘Utsav Vidyarambha’ programme in government and provincialised elementary schools across Assam from March 16 to April 1 to mark the beginning of the 2026–27 academic session.
The initiative aims to create a welcoming environment for students at the start of the new academic year and to encourage higher enrolment in government schools. District Mission Coordinators have been directed to ensure the effective implementation of the programme in their respective districts.
As part of the programme, schools will organise a range of activities involving teachers, students, parents, alumni, School Management Committees (SMCs), and members of the local community. The event is designed to strengthen community participation in the education system and motivate parents to enrol their children in schools.
Officials said the programme will also focus on identifying out-of-school children, raising awareness about the importance of education, and ensuring that the new academic session begins smoothly from the first day.
The education department has issued detailed guidelines and a day-wise activity schedule for schools to follow during the programme.
The ‘Utsav Vidyarambha’ initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to increase enrolment, reduce dropout rates, and strengthen the elementary education system across Assam.
