Assam BJP seeks third term as ‘Jana Aashirwad Yatra’ kicks off from Dhekiajuli

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched its statewide ‘Jana Aashirwad Yatra’ from Dhekiajuli, marking the formal start of its campaign for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and signalling its bid for a third consecutive term in the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off the yatra and addressed party workers and supporters, describing the programme as a major grassroots outreach initiative aimed at connecting directly with voters across Assam. He urged the public to continue their support for the BJP, noting that the party formed governments in 2016 and again in 2021.
Highlighting what he termed a decade of transformation under BJP rule, Sarma said the government had worked sincerely for the welfare and development of the people. He acknowledged that public expectations might not have been fulfilled in every instance but maintained that the administration had consistently tried to deliver progress, peace and stability in the state.
According to party leaders, the yatra will travel through all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam, focusing on direct public engagement ahead of the polls. The campaign is expected to showcase key government initiatives while strengthening the party’s organisational network at the grassroots level.
The BJP leadership expressed confidence that the outreach drive would help consolidate support across regions as the state moves towards the Assembly elections due in early 2026.
