Assam CM Hands Over Seed Capital to 16,395 Women Entrepreneurs in Bokajan Under MMUA

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday distributed seed capital to 16,395 women entrepreneurs in Bokajan under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), reinforcing the state government’s push for women-led economic empowerment.
At a ceremonial programme held in the Bokajan Legislative Assembly constituency, each beneficiary received ₹10,000 as seed funding to help launch or expand small businesses. The initiative aims to promote financial independence among women and strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship across Assam.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that empowering women economically plays a crucial role in strengthening families and building a more resilient and prosperous society. He noted that the MMUA scheme is designed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and encourage self-reliance among women, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
Officials informed that the MMUA initiative has already benefited more than 28.61 lakh women across 115 Assembly constituencies in the state. The government plans to further expand the programme to ensure wider coverage and deeper financial inclusion.
The Bokajan distribution drive marks another significant step in Assam’s ongoing women empowerment efforts, with the state continuing to scale up support for micro-entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.
