Amit Shah Vows to Make Assam Infiltration-Free Within Five Years Ahead of Assembly Polls

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the country could be made free of infiltrators within five years, reiterating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s tough stance on illegal immigration ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.
Addressing a public gathering in Assam, Shah asserted that if the Bharatiya Janata Party returns to power, infiltrators would be identified, their names removed from electoral rolls, and they would be deported from the country. He alleged that previous governments had allowed infiltration to continue and accused the opposition of using illegal migrants as a vote bank.
The Home Minister claimed the BJP government has already taken significant steps over the past decade to strengthen border security and curb illegal immigration in Assam. Emphasising national security and demographic concerns, he said the party remains committed to protecting Assam’s “jati, mati and bheti” (people, land and foundation).
Shah’s remarks come as the BJP sharpens its campaign narrative in poll-bound Assam, where the issue of illegal immigration continues to be a central political theme.
