Oil India Limited disburses CSR support under Project Rupantar

Oil India Limited (OIL) has disbursed corporate social responsibility (CSR) assistance under its flagship livelihood initiative, Project Rupantar, reinforcing its focus on community development in Upper Assam.
The distribution programme was held at OIL’s CSR Activity Complex, Swanirbhar, at Tipling in Duliajan. The event was attended by local MLA Terash Gowalla, OIL Director (HR) Dr. Ankur Baruah, Resident Chief Executive Binayananda Bharali, senior officials and beneficiaries.
Project Rupantar, launched in 2008–09, is aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods through support to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs). Since its inception, the initiative has assisted over 5,000 groups, benefiting more than 32,000 families across OIL’s operational areas.
During the current financial year (2025–26), OIL extended support to 288 JLGs, covering 1,279 families. Under the handloom component, 167 women-led JLGs were provided 835 fly-shuttle handloom sets along with yarn, accessories and a revolving fund of ₹16.70 lakh.
In the farm mechanisation segment, 74 groups received power tillers, water pumps and sprayer machines with subsidies amounting to ₹79.55 lakh. Ten groups were provided agro-product carrier vehicles with a subsidy of ₹12 lakh.
Under the biofloc aquaculture initiative, 10 groups received 20 fish-rearing tanks, fish seeds and related inputs. Additionally, seven groups were supplied reapers along with financial assistance. Twenty successful weaving clusters were also equipped with ball-bearing Jacquard machines to enhance productivity.
An exhibition showcasing value-added products produced by Rupantar-supported weaving clusters was organised on the sidelines of the programme.
OIL officials said Project Rupantar continues to play a key role in promoting entrepreneurship, income generation and socio-economic empowerment in the company’s operational districts of Upper Assam.
