Assam Squander Bowlers’ Effort Against Haryana in Ranji Trophy

Assam failed to capitalise on a strong bowling performance against Haryana as their batting collapsed in the second innings during the Ranji Trophy match, leaving the contest finely balanced.
Assam’s bowlers put in a disciplined effort to dismiss Haryana for 236 in their first innings, securing a slender 11-run lead after Assam were earlier bowled out for 247. Fast bowler Mukhtar Hussain led the attack with impressive figures of four wickets, while Rahul Singh, Sarupam Purkayastha and Dipjyoti Saikia provided able support to restrict the visitors.
Haryana’s innings was anchored by a resilient knock from Yuvraj, who scored 84 runs, but the Assam bowlers maintained pressure throughout to prevent the visitors from posting a commanding total.
However, Assam’s batting faltered in the second innings as wickets fell at regular intervals. The hosts were reduced to 85 for seven, undoing the advantage earned by their bowlers. A fighting lower-order partnership helped Assam reach 136 for seven at stumps, extending their overall lead to 147 runs with three wickets still in hand.
Mukhtar Hussain remained unbeaten on 40, while Rituraj Biswas was also not out, providing some resistance. Earlier, Rishav Das and Sarupam Purkayastha made useful contributions, but the middle order’s inability to build partnerships proved costly.
For Haryana, Aman Kumar starred with the ball in the second innings, picking up three wickets to put his team in a strong position.
With the match heading into the final day, Assam will look to stretch their lead, while Haryana will aim for early wickets to keep their chase within reach.
