The first phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections continues. There were long queues of voters at polling stations since morning. The people have come out to assert their democratic rights. Voting was held in five constituencies in Assam today. Voting was held in Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur and Kaziranga constituencies today. So far, the polling process is going on peacefully in the constituencies of Assam.
As of 3 pm, 60.12 per cent voters cast their ballots in Assam. Dibrugarh constituency recorded 60.8 per cent voting till 3 pm while Jorhat constituency recorded 64.8 per cent voting till 3 pm.
In Kaziranga constituency, 58.3 per cent voters cast their ballots till 3 pm. Lakhimpur constituency polled 59.5 per cent and Sonitpur constituency 60.2 per cent as of 3 pm.
