In a significance , Dibrugarh Police arrested Superintendent of Central Jail, Dibrugarh on Thursday night in connection with Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.
The superintendent identified as Nipen Das was arrested in connection with objectionable materials were seized from the cell of Wariss De chief Amritpal Singh and his nine associates, who were currently detained in the central jail.
Additionally, Superintendent of police (crime) Sizal Agarwal said Nipen Das, superintendent of central jail, Dibrugarh was arrested under section 13 (1) B of unlawful activites (Prevention) Act and section 75 of Assam Prision Act abd case has been registered in connection with the incident.
The materials including mobile phones and a spy-cam pens, keypads phones and others were confiscated from Amritpal Singh who has been held in jail since last year.
Eariler on Feb 17, Assam Police busted a crucial communication network operating from inside the Dibrugarh Jail, allegedly managed by terroist Amritpal Singh.
Amritpal Singh's nine associates who were also implicated in the case, were under charges under National Security Act (NSA).
