Communal tension prevailed in the area after two men slit the neck of a tailor in Udaipur Rajasthan, city of Rajasthan on Tuesday evening in a sensational incident.
The slain tailor shared a post on social media supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma for his derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad. In a video clip circulated online, an attacker threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after he announced that he had beheaded the man and said his knife would reach him too.
Police have arrested the two accused from Rajsamand area of the state. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted and urged the people to maintain peace.
The tailor was recently arrested by the local police over his comments on social media. The incident took place when miscreants entered his shop in Dhan Mandi area of the city in the form of customers. As soon as the tailor took measurements of one of them — who later identified himself as Riaz – the tailor was attacked with a knife. The other recorded the barbaric incident of murder by mobile phone.
The two men fled the spot and later uploaded the video on social media. In another video the alleged assailant admits that they cut off the tailor's head.
The Centre suspects ISIS may be behind the incident and termed the incident as a terrorist attack and sent NIA's team to Rajasthan for investigation. Internet services were suspended in Rajasthan soon after the incident and Section 144 has been imposed for a month.
