IIT Guwahati Releases GATE 2026 Cut-off Marks Across Disciplines

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has released the official cut-off marks for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2026, setting the minimum qualifying scores for candidates across various engineering and science disciplines.
According to the institute, the cut-offs vary by subject and category, with Life Sciences recording the highest qualifying mark at 36.3 for the general category. Other prominent disciplines include Mathematics (34.7) and Computer Science and Engineering (30), reflecting strong competition in these streams.
In core engineering branches, the qualifying marks have been set at 28.7 for Civil Engineering, 27.7 for Electrical Engineering, and 26.4 for both Electronics and Communication Engineering and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, Mechanical Engineering candidates must secure at least 25.2 marks to qualify.
Among science subjects, the cut-offs stand at 25.5 for Physics and 25 for Chemistry, indicating relatively moderate thresholds compared to Life Sciences and Mathematics.
The institute also confirmed that category-wise relaxations have been applied, with lower cut-off marks for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories, in accordance with established norms.
The GATE 2026 results were declared on March 19, and scorecards will be available for download from March 27 to May 31, 2026. Notably, 29 candidates achieved a perfect score of 1000, highlighting exceptional performance in this year’s examination.
GATE scores are widely used for admission to postgraduate programmes such as M.Tech and for recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), making the cut-off marks a crucial benchmark for aspirants nationwide.
