Officials said authorities are closely monitoring digital assets along with cash movement and key transit routes to curb the flow of unaccounted money during the election period. The move comes as part of a broader effort to ensure free and fair polls.
Sources indicated that cryptocurrencies, due to their relative anonymity and evolving regulatory framework, pose a challenge for enforcement agencies. There are concerns that such digital assets could be used to channel funds discreetly into the electoral process, bypassing traditional monitoring systems.
To counter this, agencies have adopted a multi-pronged strategy combining cyber surveillance, financial intelligence, and field-level monitoring. Special attention is being paid to suspicious online wallets, unusual transaction patterns, and possible cross-border digital transfers.
