The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, unveiling an aggressive campaign plan and a list of 40 star campaigners to maximise voter outreach within a limited timeframe.
The party has decided to begin its campaign immediately after the conclusion of the nomination process on March 23, aiming to utilise every available day before polling. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the BJP is focused on early engagement with voters and maintaining campaign momentum across constituencies.
State BJP president Dilip Saikia confirmed that the list of star campaigners has been approved by the central leadership. The lineup features several top national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
In addition, senior leaders such as Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kiren Rijiju are expected to campaign in the state. Chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, including Yogi Adityanath, will also participate in rallies, signalling a high-profile and centrally coordinated campaign effort.
Party leaders said the presence of national heavyweights is aimed at amplifying the BJP’s key poll plank of development and governance, while ensuring widespread coverage across Assam.
With a compressed campaign window between nominations and polling, the BJP’s strategy reflects a push for intensive, early outreach as it seeks to retain power in the state for a third consecutive term.
