Security forces in Assam have seized contraband items worth nearly ₹1 crore and arrested four persons in separate operations, officials said on Sunday.
According to police sources, the seizures were made during routine checking and intelligence-based operations conducted at different locations in the state. The contraband, suspected to be meant for illegal trafficking, was recovered from vehicles and possession of the accused. Preliminary investigation suggests the items were being transported in violation of existing laws.
The four arrested individuals have been taken into custody for questioning, and cases have been registered against them under relevant sections of the law. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the network.
Police officials stated that such operations are part of an intensified drive against smuggling and illegal trade in the region. “Action against organised smuggling networks has been stepped up to curb the flow of contraband and ensure law and order,” an official said.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing strict enforcement measures and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information related to illegal activities.
